11:09 am - Gator Nation Domination........... Wooooooooohoooooooo!!!!!!
Last night was amazing. I can't believe we completely demolished OSU! Nando and I couldn't watch with his roomies because I wasn't 21 and couldn't get in to the bar/club they were at to watch the game, so we went to the O'Connell Center. I think we had more fun there than we would have at Gator City. It was absolutely insane. I kept waiting for us to do something stupid, but luckily we didn't. The O'Connell center was packed w/ about 12000 and we all got free shirts and they played music to pump us up during the commercials. It was an amazing night. Unfortunately, I have class for the next 6 hours now.
I'm too lazy to post all the pics and videos, so here's the web address if you wanna check em out. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/556919538DoifNe

09:31 am - Pictures of the apartment Promised pics of my apartment...I don't have a lot because my camrea battery went out and it is still charging, but here's what I do have....
( My Apartment! )
I love my classes. They're a lot of work, but I feel so productive! I already took 2 quizzes and wrote a paper for my online class. And I read a chapter of microbio, took notes, and filled out the lecture prep paper/worksheet thingy. Plus I got 1/2 through my 1st chapter of physics. I think this semester will be pretty good. I'm very excited about all my classes, so hopefully I won't mind the work as much since I find them interesting. Off to go study just a tad bit more.... AND...

When I did this a long time ago, I almost always got Katie Holmes, which I guess I can see...I have big cheeks. Though I have never been fond of Tom Cruise, especially lately since he's been more open out the creepiness factor.
Have pics of the apartment...it's so cute if I do say so myself. The other Cassi brough a bunch of stuff so it's cute and girlie and already feels very homey.

11:04 pm - What's New I had the absolute worst day.
I hate school.
And I hate chemistry. Period.
I hate feeling lazy and not good enough.
And I hate being disappointed in myself. It's one thing when you disappoint someone else, but when you disappoint yourself, there's no one that can make you feel better about it.
I'm taking a long bath and going to bed. At least when I wake up it'll be a new day. Current Mood: crushed

09:05 pm - .... So true...sadly enough.
Pure Nerd 60 % Nerd, 34% Geek, 26% Dork |
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
Congratulations!

01:18 pm - Yay, schedule's all figured out!!! Well, just finished my Test #2 in Geography, it was pretty easy, and it took like 15 minutes :) Also, I ran a gel for the first time by myself yesterday, I'm so proud. I cast the gel, refridgerated it, loaded the ladder, and dyed and loaded the DNA samples. Then I hooked it up and ran it for about 40 mins. Today, I'm going to finish up running it and then try to take a pic n see if anything turned up!!! :) yay
Well, after running around for like 2 weeks doing all sorts of errands, I'm officially all set up for this summer, I think. Here's my schedule as of right now:
MONDAYS: Organic Lecture 9:30-10:45 Geography 12:30-2:00 Organic Lab 3:30-7:45
TUESDAYS: *only day I get to sleep in (I'm considering adding another shift at Shands from 8-11AM) Geography 12:30-2:00 Work in Genetics Lab 2-5ish
WEDNESDAYS: Organic Lecture 9:30-10:45 Geography 12:30-2:00 Work in Genetics Lab 2-4:30 Organic Lab 5:00-7:45
THURSDAYS: Shands volunteering in Cardiac Cath Lab 8:00-11:00 Georgraphy 12:30-2:00 Work in Genetics Lab 2:00-5ish
FRIDAYS: Organic Lecture 9:30-10:45 Geography 12:30-2:00 Work in the Genetics Lab, but I can skip if I'm going home for weekend
So, that's that. Today was my first day volunteering, and I spent about 1 1/2 hours filing and shredding stuff, but I got to spend the last 1 1/2 hours on a case, watching a catheterization. It was so cool. When they hit the artery to put the catheter in, you could see the blood arc across the room!! I'm so excited, the volunteer cordinator told me it would be boring, but I really like it. Although if I pick up an extra shift, I might try to do the ER or something else.
Also, I got all the paperwork done for the Genetics lab. I get $8.50 an hour and can work up to 20 hours a week, although I told Paul I was looking to do 8-12 hours.
Plus I really love the Organic lab. It's so cool, we actually synthesize compounds and stuff...and we learn all these cool techniques. Like yesterday, I earned how to make a vacuum with a few hoses and flasks to pull all the supernatant liquid out of my filter for my reflux reaction. SO COOL!!!
Okay, that's it. Back to work...:(

02:56 pm So....that summer school thing. Not so much fun. Alas.
Had orientation for Shands volunteering last night and lost my Gator1 in the process. :( Also, must get shot for my PPD on Monday. grr... On the upside, I'll get to do something interesting hopefully. I want to volunteer in pathology or trauma, I think.ooers.
Also, daddy called an old co-worker here at Shands, so if things turn out right, I'll hopefully be shadowing him this summer, maybe fall too. He's the Cheif Surgeon of Liver and Kidney Transplants, so it'll be really cool and I can see some surgeries n stuff!! :) But I have to talk with my advisor and stuff to get it all set up.
Also, definately getting paid for moth DNA research-doing paperwork n stuff tomorrow after Organic, since my 12:30 class was cancelled for the day b/c my teacher has to travel. YAY...early Friday.
Unfortuately, I must run a few errands and get that appointment with my advisor about shadowing. Toodles!

09:43 pm - Yay!!!! No School for a Week!!!!!! Well, last exam was @ 7:30 AM today. First of all, I have a 2 hour organic cumulative exam, and then they make it @ 7:30 in the morning. It's insult to injury :( Needless to say, I went to sleep ~2am and got up at 4:30ish to study before the test.... so I slept about 2 1/2 hours last night...and am still running, I belive purely on caffeine and sugars. I'm also really hungry...
I packed everything up in my dorm for my sublease and moved it there. And then I packed everything up to take home-i.e. winter clothes, fridge, ect. They are ready to leave with me tomorrow. It will be so nice to just sit at home and do nothing...absolute bliss.
***PLANS FOR THE WEEK*** Monday-beach :) good, I feel very pale, although working out in the gym somehow managed to tan my legs a little bit... Wednesday, I have a dematologist apt, my stupid granuloma annulars came back and a few other assorted issues
Also, anybody up to visit Chiles teachers next week at some point? I'd like to see Scheuster, Ewart, and maybe Brennan. I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now.
I have sooooooooooooo much to do when I et back to UF already, I hv to get my lab book and actaully set up stuff in my sublease and then I have volunteer orientation @ Shands like the 2nd night I'm back....
Yay, we found a fourth for our Fall apartment-my study budy Cassie....I know, weird. Anyways, I'm really excited bout next year, hopefully I can drag myself through the summer.....

April 24th, 2006
05:26 pm So I got a sublease in Lexington Crossing for the summer. I'm excited, there's a huge bedroom and my own bathroom, and it has tennis courts and a cute little porch. So I can fit many visitors at once...*cough*Layne, Katherine*
I'm a litte worried though because there are 2 other girls subleasing there for the summer that already know each other. I don't know. I'm a little weary of just random people, but I suppose I don't have to be there all that much, or if I do, I can just shut my door and be completely antisocial.... I have mixed feelings I guess, especially after Layne's experience with people she didn't know.
And if it doesn't work out, at least it's only for 3 months. I'm so excited about the fall though. Ah.
Back to studying, only 2 more days of school!!! yay!

06:24 pm - YIPPEE!!!! Hope everyone had a nice easter weekend. I didn't do to much, i mostly hung out with fernando and played the sims and watched movies. I was so lazy, but I justified it by thinking that the next 2 weeks will be crazy. I have a 10 page paper due Friday in Calc II, and my Bio exam on next Wednesday.
Yay...I though I completely bombed my last Organic exam, but I am so lucky, I not only got a C, but the class average was 'hovering' around a 40. So, to compensate, we average this exam with our final for the test 3 grade, and then have our final for test 4 grade...and I need a 69% on my final to get an A!!!! I'm so happy!!!
I also discovered we have a week off in june for 'summer break.' That makes me so happy.
So, here at UF, we get out for summer in like 3 weeks (May5-15th!!), anybody up for getting a relatively large group together for a beach day? I would have to say it would be one of the weekends, since some people work during the week.
Oh yeah, I found $250 sublease in Nando's apartments. I think that's where I'll be this summer..YAY!!! no more walking 20 minutes to get over to his place!!

April 6th, 2006
12:21 am - Almost there.... Wow, it's been so crazy lately. Last week I had my calc and bio exams and then this week I have a bio lab report, which I can't get the data for figured out, so I have to go to the TA tomorrow AM..:(
We have everything set up in the genetics lab now. We've just been making all the chemicals that we need since January, but we made our first gel and ran 11 DNA samples through it yesterday. Tomorrow I get to see if anything actually turned out that we can visualize or sequence. FINALLY!!
I registered for classes today, and got EVERYTHING I wanted, except one class for my major for the fall..grrr Summer C-Orgo II and lab Summer A-Intro to Geography Summer B-Ancient Egypt Unfortunately, all my summer classes are in the EARLY AM-like 8:(...BUT I finish up all my gen-ed, so now I can just take watever I want, PLUS I have the rest of the day to hang out...or research, or volunteer...) Fall: -Physics I + lab -Intro to Stats -Intro to Medical Professions -Biochem...which I cannot register for yet, because I haen't taken Orgo II...but I just registered, doesn't that count the same?? Then again, since I don't have biochem yet, I don't have any class on Wednesdays or Fridays right now...so exciting. And the only biochem classes are at 12 and 1, so I have at least 2 days to relax and chill:) -MCB4905-microbio research...of any kind really, so even though we deal with moths-no microbiology whatsoever, but it counts:)
EDIT:I got into Biochem today!!:) Only class on W and F...@ 1pm:)
Mom and Jennie came down to celebrate my Bday last weekend. We went out for chinese (Chicken&Cashew..mmmm) and then saw Ice Age 2. SO CUTE!! They brought me yummy cake that Erin (the roomie) and I have almost completely finished, though I think I am doing most of the eating. And absolutley gorgeous earrings and a necklace. I've recently started wearing more jewlery, so it was a nice addition to my itty bitty collection.
YAY!!! Go gators! We won Nat'l Championship in Basketball. It was great. I watched the game @ Nando's and Aaron had prolly about 20 peple over or so and Robbie had like 3 people over, so it was a decent sized group. There as a cherry picker outside that they tried to tip over once we won, but luckily they couldn't. If they had tipped it, it would have really been bad. We went down to University Avenue. THAT WAS INSANE. The paper said there were about 10,000 people...and I'd definately believe it. Just masses of crowds of semi-drunk people high fiving and chanting gator fight songs. A few guys shimmied up onto the stoplight posts, like they were standing on the actual stoplights, and waved these huge flags around. A few kids from band were walking around playing gator fight songs and there were tons of people crowd-surfing and dancing around. And the toilet paper-flying everywhere. I saw people pulling out rolls and rolls from backpacks.

10:07 am - Spring Break.... Well, Spring break is over :(
It was really nice though. During the week I didn't do that much. I mostly just hung out at home with my mom, watched tennis, and saw Fernando a few days.
Disney was so great, aside from space mountain. Layne and Fernando went on the tea cups though to appease me, so I'd def consider it even. We're definately going to have to do that again, at some point...
Me and Layney chilling, before leaving...I think
 We've arrived!!
 Waiting for the tram......
Swiss Family Robinson treehouse entry pic....whew, long title
 I love these two....
 So Pretty......
And, St Augustine w/ the family was really cool. We shopped and just looked around during the day, and then went on a really neat ghost tour Saturday night and got to hear some really cool stories. I thought it was going to be really cheesy, but I was pleasantly surprised.
They shot a cannon at the fort!!! (I don't think it was really a cannon ball though, because there were boat in the water right in front of us...)
For some weird reason, against my and Jennie's better wishes, my dad popped his collar.
Lunch time!! (or if you prefer breakfast.....my dad has a very unhealthy breakfast food addiction)
 Jennie reserved ghost tour tickets!!!
This is why I am so weird...I do not know what possesed them....
The most amazing seafood EVER!!! Coconut fried shrimp=my new fav food
Also, I think I've got the summer planned out, although I need to find a sublease-I'll do it next month when they're cheaper. I'm taking Orgo II, with the same professor I have now-which is great because I have an A right now and hes really good. Unfortunately, there's only 1 class of it for the summer (summer C- I don't want to try and cram it in in 6 weeks or so) and it's at 9 am...grrr. Plus the orgo II lab, for 6 hours a week total. And then I'm finishing up my gen ed-one class in Summer A and 1 in summer B. 11 hours total-but only 7 at a time. whew! Also Paul (my research professor) just submitted a grant so that he can pay us, and he wants to hire a lab manager, which I volunteered to do. It's really easy, just mixing up the solutions we need in the lab and cleaning and stuff. Plus it's like $9.70 an hour!! Hopefully that'll give me some spending money-or money I can save.... I also want to volunteer at Shands, maybe like 4-5 hours a week or so. Current Mood: cheerful Current Music: Social Burn

01:53 pm - Plans, Plans, Plans Everything is so crazy right now. Im trying to get things for the summer and fall all set up.
I have to sign my lease for next year at University Glades, at some point before Spring Break. So my mom has to come down to sign with me and I have to find time in the next week or 2, since their office isn't open on Sundays and I'm going to a museum in Tampa with the MCSSO next Saturday.
I'm kinda worried, considering I'm just going to have random roommates, but then it's easier to set limits and stuff if I don't know them. Plus I'll have my own bedroom, where I can just not have to deal with them if I decide I don't like them. I don't think it'll be too bad. I'm pretty tolerable, and I'm not really a drama queen, so I don't really forsee any problems wth that.
Also, I have to stay this summer in Gainesville so I can get my Organic II done. I'd like to volunteer at Shands and maybe find another research position (this one within microbio or a medical field), since I'll have one class and it's lab. I'm meeting with my advisor on Monday to talk to him and see what I shoud plan on taking during the summer and fall. I want to talk to Paul and see if I can get paid for my Research work at the Harn this summer, too. And I need to find a sublease for the summer. I really wanted to go home, but I plan on visiting at least every other weekend. I miss my family- mom and dad more so than jennie. Not to mention, everyne from Tally, but my advisor said I should seriously not go to FSU because it looks really bad that I went to an easier science department for my hard classes...arg. At least fernando and aaron will be here, so it can't be all that bad. And I'll still have my parking pass from the spring, so I can park on campus, even if my sublease is off campus.
And spring break is in a couple of weeks. Jennie's coming to visit me for some of her spring break, and my family is going to St. Augustine for the weekend that Jennie and I have that overlaps. I think since I'm going back to Gainesville from St Augustine, she'll come with me and then my mom wil come get her at some point later in the week. Also I'm excited about Disney Quest, yay! It's been awhile since I've been to any part of Disney, so that's really exciting...
And I've started going to the gym, it really does make a difference in my stress levels. Besides the fact that I've never hurt so badly in my quads when I've gone down the stairs...you would think it hurts more to go up. Alas! Current Mood: optimistic Current Music: cars driving by

12:32 pm - Valentine's Day... Happy Valentine's Day. Wow, Jennie is 18 today. That's scary.
So, best site ever, as recommended by my roomie :
MUGGLENET.COM
It's great. I spent about 1 1/2 hours here today. I like the 'Wall of Shame' and 'Song Parodies,' personally.
EXAMPLE OF SONG PARODY: To the tune of Do You Hear What I Hear?
Said Harry Potter to his friend Ronald, "Do you see what I see? Pulling up the carriages to the school, Do you see what I see? A black thestral, walking in the night With wings as big as a kite, With wings as big as a kite."
Said Harry Potter to Professor Lockhart, "Do you hear what I hear? Going through the pipes, and whispering, Do you hear what I hear? A voice, a voice, saying it must kill Hermione says that it's a Basilisk, We must have very big plumbing."
Said the Harry Potter to Professor Dumbledore, "Do you know what I know? In Hogwarts School, warm and safe Do you know what I know? A child, a child turned into Voldemort Let us get the Dementors as friends, Let us also get the Giants as friends."
Said Harry Potter to the D.A. club, "Listen to what I say! Let’s all learn Dark Art’s defense spells Listen to what I say! Voldemort is lurking in the night He will bring us darkness and fright, Let us be ready for the fight."

08:17 pm - good weekend.... I love lazy weekends. All I've done was sleep until incredibly late today-I think it's the latest I've ever slept in unless I'm sick! wow. And yesterday, I hung out w/ Aaron and Christine and Fernando and the other roomies for a bit of a Family Guy marathon of our own since Nando had downloaded a TON of episodes.
Additionally, I got an A on my organic exam on Wednesday!!!!!!! yay. That is enough reason for me to completely avoid studying this weekend for my exam Tuesday. Unfortunately, tomorrow is Monday and I have to study study study. :(
Also, I'm coming home this weekend (18 and 19th). I'll prolly spend at least one night home, especially because Jennie's 18th is Tuesday. Scary. Anybody want to do anything the other night (I'm not sure which night it'll be)?? Current Mood: refreshed Current Music: TV...I don't even know what's on..
